Who is the Witness?
Satsang: September 4, 1992
1 hr 3 minutes
In Who is the Witness? Papaji discusses ‘That’ which resides beyond time and is beyond description: Existence Itself, which, as the only reality, is witness to Itself. He also explains that it is only the mind that doubts that “I am That”, and how, once the mind is stilled, it becomes obvious that what we seek we already are. Included in this Satsang is a wonderful discussion of the Buddha and the meaning of “Buddha-hood.”

Worship
This Satsang begins with Papaji giving a wonderful and emotional talk on the historic background of Buddhist worship with an emphasis on honouring everything that comes into everyday life. The World is a Notion
In this Satsang Papaji discusses the underlying cause of suffering: the notion that “I am the body.” He explains how to remove that belief and to realize the immaculate nature of Being. The Changeless Substratum
Satsang from August 20, 1992
In this Satsang, divided into two parts, Papaji talks about Self as the substratum of everything. To realize the Self we need to enquire into who we really are. He then speaks about the ‘I’ as a concept, “When you speak of ‘I’ something is concealed. When you see form, no-form is concealed. Don’t pick up the ‘I’. Before you pick up the ‘I’, you already are.” Papaji also tells the story of a man who found a ruby and put it on a string on the neck of his donkey and then sold the donkey to a diamond merchant thinking he had stroke a deal. “Appraise yourself at the fact that you are really carrying a diamond. The teacher will tell you that you are worth this. Everybody has a diamond within the heart. The only teaching is that you are already that, all else is falsehood.”

Wake Up
Satsang from August 7, 1992
This Satsang, divided into two parts, starts with a strong instruction to wake up before our time is over. Papaji recounts his own longing for God and the quest to find a guru who would show him God. This eventually brought Papaji to the feet of his Master, Ramana Maharshi, who told him to find out who the seer is and by whose grace he realized the Self. Papaji also replies to a question about responsibility after enlightenment, “In that state there’s nothing to do and there’s nothing not to do. It is for the Self to reply, Self to behave. You merge into the Self after freedom. It’s the end of all problems, end of all conducts and moralities.”

Desire for Freedom
Satsang from September 7, 1992
Part 1: 1 hour and 4 minutes
Part 2: 57 minutes
Part 3: 53 minutes
This long and exceptional Satsang, divided into three parts, starts with Papaji giving the analogy of Buddha to illustrate how a strong desire for freedom can and will burn all other desires. Papaji encourages everyone to honour this desire, “Everyone has Buddha nature in him and everyone is Buddha itself. If you are fully 100 per cent, you say, “I want freedom, 100 per cent freedom” and during this span, if you want only freedom and if you need only freedom, you see only freedom, are you not free?”

Papaji Speaks – Om Shanti Vol. 1
These series of videos, Om Shanti Clips, include the opening introductions, or “om shanti” to three Satsangs in 1992 & 1993, for each single DVD. Only Papaji speaks in each of these clips. There are no questions-and- answers.
Om Shanti from September 4, 1992 – 22 minutes
Who is the Witness?
Papaji asks, “Who is the witness of all activities, personal and universal?” Who was the witness before the creation of the universe and, thus, before the Creator? And, why is it important to consider?
Om Shanti from November 17, 1992 – 18 minutes
Worship
Papaji maintains that worship is not foreign to enlightened ones. Everything is Consciousness, and worship of Consciousness in whatever form it appears acknowledges that Consciousness is all there is. Consciousness, or the Self, reveals Itself to Itself. If you worship all things as Consciousness, you will never forget who you are.
Om Shanti from November 26, 1992 – 14 minutes
Behold the Inner Flame
Call this flame the Self, Atman, Enlightenment, or Freedom.
There are three ways to find it:
1.Absolute dedication for it.
2.Completely abandon all desires.
3.Enquire into the nature of the Self.
Any one of these is quite enough. This flame is always within your Heart, it is not distant. At some level you must be aware of this or the attractions of the world would satisfy you. You are not satisfied. Only that which is eternal can satisfy you.
Peace is eternal. You must decide that this is what you want and then you must dedicate yourself to it. Then you must share it with all beings.

Papaji Speaks – Om Shanti Vol. 2
Om Shanti from November 6, 1992 – 24 minutes
Who are you?
Papaji says that if you know the answer to the question, “Who are you?” karma ceases to function and samsara ceases to exist. You return to your original nature: Being, Existence, Bliss. This is the only reason you are here. He then goes on to discuss the means by which the answer becomes apparent.
Om Shanti from November 23, 1992 – 16 minutes
The word is a Notion
Papaji discusses the original notion, or idea, from which the entire illusory universe was born. He says that those who look at the fruit of this notion will suffer endlessly because it hides the substratum of all that appears, which is the source of all joy. He explains the underlying Reality, God or Consciousness, and the means by which the illusion can be dissolved so that Reality can be realized.
Om Shanti from December 21, 1992 – 15 minutes
Silence
Papaji says that silence, which is one’s true nature and the source of all happiness, is the purpose of all practices. For example, he says that the joy that seems to come from the attainment of some goal is not in the gain itself, but becomes apparent as ever-present because the mind is now silent. He maintains that it is possible to be silent even in the midst of activity, which is also Sri Ramana Maharshi’s main teaching. Papaji says that silence, which is synonymous with freedom, answers all questions. However, he says not to run after freedom or enlightenment. If you keep quiet it will find you. Papaji doesn’t leave us with only the insight into the importance of silence, but goes on to tell us how to achieve (or recognize) silence as the ever-present substratum of awareness.

Papaji Speaks – Om Shanti Vol. 3
Om Shanti from October 10, 1992 – 20 minutes
Fear of Death
Papaji explains how the close association with a realized teacher removes the fear of death. Such association will help one to get rid of the concepts of birth and death – neither of which exist in reality – and to spark the desire to be free which is the only truly helpful desire.
Om Shanti from December 1, 1992 – 18 minutes
What is the mind?
In this discourse, Papaji speaks about desire. He says that to give up all desire, but for an instant, you will see that mind and ego do not exist. In the emptiness of no- mind there is no union and no separation. There is only ‘This’ which one eternally is.
Om Shanti from January 23, 1993 – 20 minutes
Keep Quiet
Papaji explains that the words “keep quiet,” which are heard so often in Satsang, is not something that one does, but is in fact, what you always are. You are always quiet. It is your true nature. When Papaji says to keep quiet he is simply saying do not take up any thought; recognize what is always the case prior to, during, and after all thoughts.

Papaji Speaks – Om Shanti Vol. 4
Om Shanti from October 3, 1992 – 18 minutes
Who is the doer?
Papaji explains that there was, is, and always will be only Emptiness from which all appearances arise. Our challenge is to remain the witness of all that is played out on the screen of Emptiness. He goes on to explain how to see Emptiness in form.
Om Shanti from December 11, 1992 – 16 minutes
Self-Enquiry
Papaji counsels a dying woman with regard to the reality of Life, or Consciousness, which cannot die. In the process, of course, he is counselling all of us. He challenges all of us to first know ourselves and then to speak of death.
Om Shanti from December 22, 1992 – 11 minutes
Contemplate on That
This is considered by those who were present in the Satsang from which this excerpt is taken, to be one of Papaji’s best presentations on silence and devotion.

Papaji Speaks – Om Shanti Vol. 5
Om Shanti from December 10 1992 – 17 minutes
Pleasure is Pain
This is a long discourse in which the false promises of all the pleasures of the world of form are exposed. Papaji does not leave the listener in hopelessness but goes on to explain how to avoid the suffering that comes from the pursuit of pleasure. He speaks of Self-Knowledge in which one sees through the illusion of the ego and its promises to the Reality in which we abide. It is called freedom, peace, happiness, beauty and love. This talk includes a beautiful description of ego and the means by which it deflects us from the realization of that place where we are eternally seated.
Om Shanti from November 3, 1992 – 17 minutes
Enlightenment
Papaji gives a very clear explanation of enlightenment and why it seems, so often, to be impossible to attain. He says, despite the belief in the separation from ‘That’ which one is, that it is possible to realize the truth about oneself this very moment and goes on to tell us how. He finishes this talk with a provocative and profound statement: “The ultimate truth is that nothing ever existed. It’s all silence.”
Om Shanti from November 21, 1992 – 33 minutes
Delight, Bliss & Beyond
This volume of talks ends with a short call for true non-action in which we realize delight, bliss and ‘That’ which lies beyond every possible conception of what it means to realize, or be the truth: “Let there be peace, delight, bliss and beyond.”

Papaji Speaks – Om Shanti Vol. 6
Om Shanti from 18 Aug 1992 – 22 minutes
Direct Awakening
In this beautiful discourse Papaji explains that there are different ways to obtain freedom but the more direct is Vichar: enquiry into the Self. There is no need to go to the Himalayas or into a cave to meditate. We can sit quiet wherever we are, see within ourselves what is rising in the mind and reject everything that changes.
Papaji also powerfully urges us to stop postponing, as we don’t know when death is going to strike.
Om Shanti from 20 Aug 1992 – 15 minutes
The Changeless Substratum
Papaji addresses the fear some people have of losing the peace of mind they feel in Satsang when they are going back home. He explains that Self cannot be lost as it is the substratum of everything and the purpose of having Satsang is to apprise us of the fact that we are already that.
Om Shanti from 24 Aug 1992 – 19 minutes
Listening
Papaji instructs that by giving full attention to the movement of the mind that gives rise to the ‘I’ everything is over. There is nothing beyond this to speak and nothing more to listen to.
